Adoption Alert # 916
Posted: Mar 27, 2008
|
 |
Sheba #916 is a very obedient and affectionate, spayed female who will be turning 7 this year. Sheba absolutely loves people and will soak up all the attention she can get. She loves to play and interact with her human companions and especially loves her daily walks and games of fetch. Sheba will play and interact with other dogs on a walk or out in the park but is not too keen on sharing her home with them so would be best suited as an only dog. We are unsure how she would react to a cat in her home but outside she does chase them. Sheba would do best in a home where there are older children and where she will she will get the attention she so much deserves as well as the stimulation of regular walks and visits to the park.
If you would like more information about Sheba, please call out hot line at
416-657-2445 or toll free at 1-866-712-8444 and one of our volunteers will
be happy to return your call.

Adoption Alert #915
Posted: May 2, 2008

 |
Bentley #915 is estimated at 5 years old and is a neutered male. He has a typical goofy, Golden personality and is very obedient and loyal. He can be selective with his canine companions and definitely dislikes small dogs. He is being fostered in a home with two other Goldens and gets along fine with them. We are unsure of how he is with cats but given the fact that he does not tolerate small dogs we are assuming he is not fond of cats either. Bentley would do well in a home where he will be given lots of attention and lots of exercise, where exposure to small dogs is minimal and where the children in the home are at least the age of 18.
If you would like more information about Bentley, please call out hotline at
416-657-2445 or toll free at 1-866-712-8444 and one of our volunteers will
be happy to return your call.

Adoption Alert #966/967
Posted: May 2, 2008

 |
I recently became a foster with Golden Retriever Rescue and my first experience with 11 year old Kasey #967 and 8 year old Heidi #966 has been very rewarding. I was a little anxious to take the two (brother and sister) at once but Kasey and Heidi made the transition seamlessly. As evidenced by Kasey’s forever wagging tail and Heidi’s regular offering of one of her many stuffed toys, these two retrievers aim to please and have a lot of love to give.We have had a lot of visitors in our home during Kasey and Heidi’s stay and each person (young or old, male or female) was met at the door by their excited wiggly bodies. Neither Kasey nor Heidi has displayed uneasiness or nervousness when approached by strangers. Kasey and Heidi share everything as Kasey graciously steps aside to allow Heidi to finish off the last of his meal but you can’t snuggle one without the other sneaking in to steal some affection too. They enjoy long strolls outdoors and they are easy to walk on leash. Heidi tends to be more interested in other dogs and squirrels but she is compliant when instructed to ignore these distractions. They both do well in the car and on rainy days they wait patiently at the front door to be towel dried before entering the house. This dynamic duo would make a wonderful addition to any family.
If you would like more information about this sweet pair, please call out hotline at
416-657-2445 or toll free at 1-866-712-8444 and one of our volunteers will
be happy to return your call.

Recipe Book
Posted: Feb 11, 2008
|
 |
Due to the incredible events over the past months regarding recalled food, Golden Rescue has decided to begin construction of a dog food/treat recipe book. We would like you to send us any great biscuit or soft food recipes you enjoy giving your pets. We are also interested in some people recipes as long as they can somehow be related back to your pup...i.e. a great crock pot recipe that allows you more time at the park with your Golden. We will also include a section in the book for non-recipe helpful hints such as inventive stain remover recipes and first aid remedies. If you also know of an old time cure for upset stomachs or bad breath, feel free to let us know.
Send all your great ideas to Robyn at shrink@sympatico.ca
We will try to include just about everything we receive but will need to avoid overlap.
Our current date of print will be by the middle of summer and hopefully the Cookbook will be ready for sale by the fall.
Our goal is to make a great little book that you will want to buy, help sell, and definitely give as a gift.
